It’s been 3 years since my Avó (grandmother)has passed. Since then I have been trying to honour her by learning more about my Portuguese heritage. Through this series I documented my progress learning more Portuguese, wearing and taking care of jewelry that used to be hers, and appreciating my natural hair more. Among other things, I still buy orchids like my Avô (grandfather)used to, and occasionally still does, as they were one of her favourites. October-December are the hardest months without her here. Finding new memories make it easier to live without her but in many ways I find parts of her through myself as the days, months, years pass.
